Staff Defending Jennie From Smoking Controversy Turns Out To Be Impersonator

Recently, controversy broke out as Jennie was seen smoking an e-cigarette while getting her makeup done in her own Vlog video. While criticizing her indoor smoking behavior, netizens also pointed out the female singer’s bossy attitude as she blew cigarette smoke in the face of a makeup staff member.

Later, Jennie’s personal label OA released an apology for the indoor smoking incident, saying “Jennie acknowledges and deeply regrets her mistake of vaping indoors and causing inconvenience to the staff. She has personally apologized to all the staff on-site who may have been affected. We apologize to her fans who have been disappointed through this incident. We hope to prevent this from reoccurring in the future”.
Despite the official apology, criticism continues as people still have negative opinions about Jennie’s actions toward her staff and even raise issues about her personality.
In this situation, a netizen claimed to be a staff on the scene of the indoor smoking incident and made a post defending Jennie, saying “It was in the waiting room of the fashion show. She asked if it was okay for her to smoke, and smoked with the window right next to her open”.

They added, “While the staff was looking for a lip product, Jennie smoked a bubble stick sold at convenience stores. It was just the right timing to blow out the smoke. Even after the fashion show ended, she kept apologizing and the staff, who is also a smoker, was fine with it”. This person emphasized their disappointment about seeing Jennie being misunderstood by the public.
However, Internet users quickly found out that this netizen was not an actual staff member at the scene. As the post spread, it did help create a supportive atmosphere for Jennie amid the controversy, however, it also caused a further backlash. Jennie’s indoor smoking controversy has become too serious to the extent that it has even resulted in impersonations of staff members.
